Written in 2014, Border Town Boogaloo was first performed as part of a collaboration with author Robert Wolf. Landing somewhere between the boogaloo and breakbeat groove traditions, this piece is meant to evoke Wolf’s Kerouacian young adulthood as he hitchhiked to Juárez in 1964. This is music for the open road.
